TOURNAMENT OF ROSES
UPDATE #13
September 11, 2007
WE ARE HEADING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH!!!!!
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 14, 2007
This will be deadline for all paperwork of any type for this trip. It will then be processed and rooms, air seats, dinner reservations, etc will be tallied. If not received by then, you will be placed at my discretion. Thanks to all who have already returned the needed info. But you have until Friday September 14.
Also due will be all book money (100 students still have them out), merchandise orders, any TOR pullover requests for size changes or ordering ... in fact, anything to do with this trip will have a deadline of Friday, September 14, 2007. Monday it will be too late so please do not send notes or email. They will be ignored.
The total "official" traveling party is 362 with 485 dinner requests plus 5 airplanes plus 7 buses plus 2 performances plus 350 parade tickets plus whatever else is needed. As you can see, changes can not and WILL not be accepted after Friday September 14, 2007. It keeps me busy EVERYDAY and I have no time to go back and switch things. So please make sure by Friday EVERYTHING IS IN CORRECTLY! I do not even take a lunch break or use the bathroom.!!!
MAGAZINES
These will be due on Thursday September 27. SO keep plugging away! Bravo to Tom Kurtzweil who has already turned in over $350.00 in mag orders!
ACCOUNT SHEETS
Considering we have had over $375,000 go across my desk for this trip already, we have been very luck in "logging" it in. Only two mistakes on your account sheets were notated. SO we are not perfect but considering there were only two, much congrats should go to Sandy Johnson and Dave Rossi who handle all the money. We have found the mistakes in question and all is totally up to date! It sure does help where ID numbers are where we ask!
You will be getting a new sheet on September 25 that will let you know where y are. Remember: $750.00 OR MORE in the account by October 1, 2007.
PASADENA DRESS
Many have asked about what types of clothes will be expected for Pasadena '08. I was there last December and it was hot enough to wear shorts but when the sun went down it was 20 degrees cooler in one hour. SO please start thinking about shorts and long pants. We will require that all band members when leaving the hotel always have on khaki brown shorts or long pants that will go with their black pullovers. Same for the adults. Travel airplane attire will be long pants and the black pullover. No flip flops, sandals, crocs, etc. This type of dress---khaki pants, pullover, and tennis shoes---can be worn everywhere except to the Queen Mary which is a coat and tie event. Dresses for ladies.
With that said, MACY'S department store has shorts on sale ... $25.00 shorts going for $7.00-8.00 each. Go check it out while they are still there. END OF SUMMER CLEARANCE!!!!
Blue shorts of course are welcome but I don't feel blue and black go really well together.
BHS OPEN HOUSE
Thursday Sept 20 ... also an early release day. So students do not have to wait around on Thursday to have a 3 PM rehearsal, we will rehearse that week on Tuesday and Wednesday so they can go home at noon on Thursday. Please notate the change!
PTSA CONTRIBUTION
Thanks for the $1,000 contribution to the TOR trip! Please tell them that when you see them!
FOOTBALL GAME
We made it through it with no problems. I would ask that only parents who are working upstairs go there to assist the students. Please no young children who might get in the way and get injured. Attempting to get 172 people dressed and ready in "X" amount of time is hard. So please wait for your child at the bottom of the fires escape. It will definitely help us!
Next game Millbrook is bringing the band and we will be gracious hosts. More later!
FLYING TO PASADENA?
If you have debating on whether to fly out and have finally decided to come join us, Janice Fletcher, mother of trumpet player Lance works for American Airlines. Please contact her and she has offered to assist you if she can. Her cell number is 919-946-0563. Maybe she can help you in some way!
DRIVERS ED
I have arranged with Mrs. Lewis the drivers ed "book" teacher to have any band student who needs to take drivers ed get into the classes that will start in January 2008. Due to the TOR preparations, it can not be done now due to missed rehearsal times in the afternoon. Plan to take DE in January and we will work with you to get you into a class. If you can sign up now for the classes in January DO IT!
CHICK-FIL-A CALENDARS
I got them. Sell for $7.00 and you get $5.00 for each. COME GET THEM! They have over $30.00 in coupons ... so it cost $7.00 but you save $30.00 when you use the coupons. Sounds like a win win for you ... and you put $5.00 in your account!
Bravo to Stacey Wilson who has already done 50! That is $250.00 in her TOR account1
North Hills Chick-Fil-A night for the band!!! Thursday September 13 ... go eat as we get 15% of the proceeds!!! Times are 4:00-8:00 PM
THANKS TO
Leslie Estes, Mary Saunders, Emily Cato and Jan Ernst who assisted with new white football blouses. We appreciate your efforts!
AND THANKS TO THE PARENTS
Who have been sending in some money to assist some of band members who are working hard but not finding all the money they need for TOR. We thank you and hope that all can find one big sponsor to help and assist all. KEEP LOOKING!
AND THANKS TO ALL
Who have turned in forms CORRECTLY! If you have not, then that means you did not listen and follow the instructions given. Nothing I can do about that! You need to do what is asked and assist me!
